npn and pnp transistors

Hello!

Apologies if this topic is already covered, I searched the forum and didn't find anything.
I was wondering if you could explain how npn and pnp transistors work. I know they are basically p-n junctions, but my book's explanation confused me....

A basic explanation will do.

Thanks heaps!

Re: Semiconductors

Also, if the conduction band and the valence band are energy levels; does that mean that the electrons that are extra/unpaired have greater energy because they occupy the conduction band?

Thanks :)

Semiconductors

Hi, Could you explain what it means to reach the conduction band in terms of n-type semiconductors. What I mean is : i know that the n-type semiconductors are doped with a group 5 atoms, so that the 4/5 electrons pair with the 4 valence electrons of the semiconductor atom. Hence, in order for curren...

3 phase electricity

Hi Joe,

Can you please explain how 3 phase electricity works? And I dont get how you can synchronize the stator coils in a generator and those in a motor to produce it....

Thanks heaps!

Thanks :)

E=mc^2

Hey!

Could you please explain how E=mc^2 is a consequence of special relativity?

Please reply asap!
Thankyou!
