Hello,
So I was watching this video on youtube

I was curious if anyone could provide some insight to the problem above?
Could you just use the conversation of energy principle [work energy theorem] here?
Or is there something that I am missing

P.S: not looking for solutions, I want to figure it out, but if someone could let me know if I am on the right track it would be appreciated :D :D

The video you linked has fairly detailed explanations. The problem is set up by collisions in classical physics, but it quickly becomes a couple of interesting problems in maths.

But that is fairly straightforward.
